Future Founders Ignite provides intensive out-of-class experiences to immerse our most motivated students into the entrepreneurial ecosystem and help them build key skills. The program is targeted at elementary and high school students who completed Future Founders Discover, but is open to other students citywide. Ignite offers intensive multiple-day events for the highest performing students from each program cycle. Through these higher dosage offerings, students build relationships with likeminded peers and gain from deep learning opportunities.
“Be Your Own Boss” Summer Entrepreneurship Camp
Future Founders teamed up with After School Matters to offer a 100+ hour summer entrepreneurship camp for 25-30 aspiring high school entrepreneurs. This camp takes students from Chicago Public Schools to every corner of the entrepreneurial community over four weeks of intensive programming. During the camp, we immerse students in Chicago’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and help them build the skills they need to become entrepreneurs. The program culminates with a multi-day business development exercise where students create an idea, develop a pitch deck, and pitch to investors for the chance to win recognition and prizes. The camp runs Mondays-Thursdays each July from 9:30am-4:30pm at 1871, the number one business incubator in North America. Student participants receive a $420 stipend for completing the camp.
Our 2016 cohort of 25 students represented 23 schools from 20+ neighborhoods across Chicago. These students were selected from nearly 500 applicants citywide. Applications for Summer 2017 will open in the spring.
Future Founders will launch an intensive Spring Break Entrepreneurship Camp in April 2017. Stay tuned for more details.
Future Founders Ignite is based on a program co-founded by the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center (CEC), Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce and Motorola Foundation in 2005.
